Nightriders

Nightriders are the Boston dance duo; Matt Johnson and Joe Faria, where a chance meeting in 2004 at Boston’s legendary superclub, Avalon, (and many drinks later); formed a solid friendship. They list influences such as Quincy Jones, Brothers Johnson and the modern styles of Daft Punk, Groove Armada, Sebastian Tellier, Jamiroquai, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Air, and Royksopp.

This track is drenched in funk. The guitar licks and the synthesizers hypnotize your body unknowingly. I'll definitely make it a point to see these guys when I head up to Boston at the end of this month.

Keep It Comin' - Nightriders

I know that East Coast is just waiting for Hurricane Earl to pass us by so that we can all have a nice Labor Day weekend. This should be enough though to get the weekend started the right way.

I also haven't been on top of my game with posts the past 2 weeks because I've been busy attending to school and some other freelance gigs. Should return to daily posts next week! And the September Mixtape is out this Sunday so check back then.

Miami Horror - Illumination

So one of Melbourne's biggest acts dropped their album last Friday. A year after Miami Horror's Sometimes garnered worldwide acclaim, they come out guns-a-blazin'. In a nutshell, the whole album is an astrological adventure of the mind. There is enough disco juice to get you to Mars and back. Soft Light, Echoplex and Summersun are a few of my favorites from the album. Although, these two really take the cake. Disco gems of the 21st century, I tell you.

Au Revoir Simone x Punches

Brooklyn's hotshot duo Punches sets the dance floor on fire with this trumpet-laden track of Au Revoir Simone's. Looking forward to seeing these guys perform with Classixx and and Eli Escobar this Saturday at the Brooklyn Bowl.

Andreya Triana + Outkast = MakeLovin

I've been a fan of Andreya Triana ever since she collaborated with Bonobo on his most recent LP. This English artist's voice seems to fit well within the Downtempo/Triphop genre. This song is her debut single that was released back in April.

Lost Where I Belong - Andreya Triana

Her debut album, Lost Where I Belong is out on September 7 (USA), August 23 (Europe)

Thought I'd throw in this underrated Outkast tune. Go and mess those sheets up tonight!

Touch Sensitive

Great Nu Disco/Italo track out of Australia. Touch Sensitive was an early side project of Van She's Michael Di Francesco that was released under Future Classic label a few years back. Been holding on to this track for sometime now and I felt that it being a Monday (I'm a Monday Hater), I'd put it out and let it resonate through ears that have fallen deaf to the sound of silence. For those of you at work, do yourself a favor and put those earphones on. Take a break and shake that head of yours a bit to wake you up. Since you're at it, why not daydream and imagine yourself on a speedboat zipping through crystal blue waters with the wind right in your face and the warm sun right on your back.

I'm back! Ace Frehley (Russ Ballard Cover)

Annnd...I'm back folks! I apologize for the lack of posts the whole month of July. As I've mentioned, my schedule was quite hectic while I was vacationing back home (catching up with friends and family), plus my internet connection was a total bore.

I've been getting a few e-mails about the site needing to be updated and I apologize it had to result in your own efforts to get me to me to post something up! Rest assured, as long as I've got my handy-dandy high-speed internet, we won't be having problems anytime soon.

"Here I am, again in this city, with a fistful of dollars, and baby you'd better believe...I'm back, back in the New York Groove"

I put on this tune the morning I got back. I'm the kind of person that starts any emotional endeavor off with the perfect background music. You've got to admit, songs like this really get your blood pumping. This song gives you the right amount of arrogance you need to make it in this concrete jungle. There is some kind of renewed excitement when you get back into the city from elsewhere. No fail. Go out and make it happen!

Lindstrom & Christabelle x Idjut Boys

English duo, Idjut Boys touches up on a track by Norway's "maestro of disco," Lindstrom and vocalist Christabelle. The beat that is almost identical to Michael Jackson's Wanna Be Startin ' Something will pump anyone's 'nads into hyper-drive.

This is on the late side but while I was in Hong Kong, this song kept playing in my head. This is definitely one of those songs girls will look good dancing to. There were a whole lot of lovely ladies in HK (mostly of mixed decent) that sent me home cross-eyed. How I wish they could have broke out in dance formation to this song.

Sunfire x My Birthday

I'm in the beautiful city of Hong Kong for a clan trip (26 people to be exact) and it has been amazing so far. The city, the food and the people are all great, except for the occasional douche-y Chinese vendors. I've stuffed myself with enough wanton noodles to feed a village. Not good.

On the other hand, I'm heading out in a bit to celebrate my 23rd birthday. Yup, I suspect this whole "faimly trip" was a secret birthday bash planned by my whole family. Then again, I could be wrong! I expect nothing less than crazy from the Hong Kong crowd. I was walking around just last night and it reminded me very much of New York. Another concrete jungle, just 1000 times more Asian. Streets full of crazy drunk hooligans, both of Asian and foreign decent flooded the streets. I'm guessing it being a Friday night and all, it'll be even worse (in a good way of course).

Leaving you guys with this 80s funk track! The August playlist will also be out on Sunday so watch out for it.
