Pogo

Pogo is back people. This Australian is known for mash-ups of small sounds from a film or scene and sequencing them to form a new piece of music. He was the one who also made Alice. UPular is a masterpiece and he surely is the pioneer in this emerging genre.

Gypsy & The Cat

Did I not promise a post on the first day of 2010? I hope all of you had a very merry and happy new year! I have yet to celebrate it. As I write this, I am 11 hours away from doing so. Stick to your resolutions people!

Anyway, Gypsy & The Cat is g-o-o-d! Hailing from Australia, this duo is set to release their album sometime soon. Thing is, they aren't even signed yet. Though there is a lot of speculation that they might be taken under Modular's wing of success.

Jona Vark is EARGASMIC. My personal favorite among these two song I've put up. They've got very versatile vocals. In this track, they remind of their Aussie brethren, Empire of The Sun. It's the chorus that gets you hooked on to the track. Trust me: Jooooonaaaaaa...Jonaaaaa Varrrrk!

This second one, 'Till Tomorrow is also really good. Think Oasis gone a bit more electronic.

The pop this duo is creating it top quality. If I were you, I'd be looking forward to their album release. I'll keep you posted on any developments.

NYE "Get Psyched Mix"

I hope everyone's holiday season has been a blast so far. I'd like to apologize for the shortage of posts this past month. I've been really busy. They're called priorities people! It is not that I'm not prioritizing giving you guys the eargasm you want/deserve (Have I ever failed at that?), I'm just trying to make sure I have a promising future ahead of me!

2009 was a so-so year. I can't really decide how it went for me. Ambivalent would probably best describe it.

This will be the last post for 2009. This is the playlist I'll be listening too on NYE. Some are old, some new. The point is the list is supposed to hype you up.

Stay tuned because starting January 1, I'm flooding this blog with posts. 2010 will be a MusicPhiled year!

So let me be the first to greet you a Happy New Year! From New York to Manila and the rest of the world! Cheers!

Note: Had to separate this one song because it doesn't work with the player!

Letting Up Despite Great Faults

I apologize for the lack of posts! It's finals week and I'm up to my neck with requirements. Glad to have some over with and realize the hard work put in paid off in the end!

Anyway, these guys are unsigned according to their MySpace. Shoegaze from the City of Angels! Their music is synth-sational! Their top inspirations are Radio Dept, New Order, Yo La Tengo, The Sea and Cake, Metro Area, Chapterhouse, M83. Definitely on the spot with the first one though.

I liked the first song the best.

I promise a shite load of music to come after the 22nd of December. Will definitely make up for the one and a half week downtime on this blog.

Citizen Cope

This song was recently brought to my attention by my friend (Hello! Bettina Enriquez).

Clarence Greenwood goes by the name Citizen Cope. He grew up in Washington D.C., but now resides among a cornucopia of musicians in Brooklyn, New York. He's got a pretty soulful voice. I'm pretty sure you've heard a song or two of his on the television.

"Citizen Cope (a.k.a. Clarence Greenwood) came out of Washington D.C. with a new sound - a sound that possessed the beat and the grit of modern urban society."
- Colin Ruel of The Martha Vineyard Times (I know what you're thinking..."What would Martha know about music?" I was thinking more along...less is more/in a nutshell)

Also, I went out of town last weekend to the Poconos, and think out of all the "anthems" we had that night, this would have been the best. Doesn't this song just amp you up?

Tommy Sparks

Fusion/pop/alternative musician out of Stockholm, Sweden. I've been hearing this song on TV for the Apple's iTouch commercial. If you're also an avid gamer, this song is part of FIFA10's soundtrack (best game EVER). I'll probably be making a post on that as soon as I get school done and over with for this semester. But for now I'll leave you with this! Enjoy

Boy Crisis

YES! I am finally posting this one up. I've waited a week to post this song. Boy Crisis shares the same roots as MGMT. Formed as a project by Victor Vazquez, Tal Rozen and Alex Kestner at Wesleyan University back in 2005, they only started playing shows in 2007. In that same year, their two other members, Lee Pender and Owen Roberts joined the team.

Now I've browsed through their other songs, but I wasn't really feeling any of them. This one on the other hand (I heard the remix first) was catchy. It's fun. There's something about it though that makes it feel like a summertime song. Guess this is going to be stuck on repeat throughout winter.

The video reminds me of Empire Of The Sun. It has got weird outfits, weird make-up and ends in with some Congo-like tribal party.

GQ Music

So GQ always seems to pull through with their music selection. Their behind-the-scenes videos are always paired with some new up-and-coming sexy alternative song. It jives so well with the videos.

Plus it's an excuse to put up Leightoon Meester's sexy footage up here. And by footage, I don't mean her scandalous tape.

This is the song for hot ESPN sportscaster, Erin Andrew's shoot.

Casual Touch x Electric Minds

I'd give a write up on the artist but there isn't any. Only thing I could find out is that Sean's a Los Angeles based DJ. He's been spotted DJing at the rooftop of the business chic style Standard Hotel in Downtown L.A. If you didn't know, this hotel has probably one of the best in-house music selections. Not to mention that the hotel encourages nudity and exhibitionists. They've got HUGE ceiling windows for you to strut your tush!

His music is vintage electronica with hints of disco to it. Now I can appreciate good house/lounge music, but I won't exactly look for it. This song on the other hand has got the funk that will keep me listening. This bad boy is purely beats though. But boy oh boy, will it make your head bop. It's a re-edit of a 1983's Electric Mind. Most definitely worth your time.
