Breakbot

This beauty made its way into the web and right into SoundCloud. For those of you that aren't so familiar with it, it's an excellent way to toss music around. Plus, they have teamed up with HypeMachine such that blogs that use SC as a host, will now have their posts pop up on HypeM's search unlike before. Set to be released on Valentine's Day, you purchase their first Ed Banger EP here.

Hot and funk-filled track. I feel like this song can get even my parents snapping their fingers. And trust me, it takes a lot of pressure to get that much dance effort out of them.

Bobby McFerrin

McFerrin is a famous American vocalist and conductor. This guy is a 10 time Grammy Award winner. You might know his most famous song, "Don't Worry, Be Happy". Yes, I'm sorry to disappoint you but Bob Marley wasn't the original after all.

He is know to create polyphonic effects, performing both the main melody and the accompanying parts of songs. It's also called over-tone singing. Definitely something to hear. Check out the video as well. He made an appearance on The Sing Off.

"8000 bam bam (Samuel Cooper) & Baby Seal (Brady Keehn) first started working together at Savannah College of Art and Design during the post production stage of Samuel's senior thesis film"

That is pretty much everything about them on the web. A cornucopia of beats that surprisingly fit together.

Architecture in Helsinki

These guys aren't new to the music scene. Melbourne, Australia-based band Architecture in Helsinki are really a handful. Not only in their numbers, but even with the instruments that they incorporate into their music. Anything from analog synthesizers, samplers, hand claps to concert band instruments like the trumpet, tuba, trombone; and the more standard ones such as guitars, bass guitar and drums. More often than not labeled as avant-garde/indie pop, their music is fun. The plethora of instruments that they combine make it an interesting listen. You won't know it but you'll be bobbing your head or tapping your foot to the beat.

They haven't released anything new but I'd just like to put out this track from their album, Places Like This accompanied with a remix by A-Trak. If you're wondering, he goes by the moniker Trizzy for songs he's reproduced. This remix is awesome by the way. It's a total do-over of the original with some sick beats.

Shout Out Louds

The Swedes are at it again! Their album Work is still set to be released on the 23rd of February but as always, the album has been leaked.

This is my favorite track from the album so far. Everything just comes beautifully together in this song. The guitar riffs, the upbeat drums and trumpets compliment the vocals that give you the quality that is expected of Scandanavian bands; bouncily ethereal.

Stardust / Pony Pony Run Run

Live Soul Kitchen Session

Marlena Shaw

For the brief time that I was in L.A. back in 2008, this was one of the driving songs I had. there was something about the violins added warmth to your heart in the already warm weather of the Golden State.

During cold (and rainy) times like today, I really wish I was in the West Coast.

Here's the original by Marlena Shaw:

Hot Chip

Here's a new track from the laiiiiid baaaaaaaaack group Hot Chip.

It's got a dark beat to it, but I feel like if remixed the right way, it could definitely slay the dance floor.

The xx

Here's the music video of VCR, off their debut album. Very good visual interpretation of the morose theme of apathetic young love. In layman's terms: unadulterated love.

This other one is a remix by Matthew Dear. Pretty decent. A funkified version of the original.

Bonobo

I bring you Simon Green a.k.a Bonobo. A British musician, producer and DJ. This is downtempo and triphop at its best. His rhythms are made even sexier with Bajka's voice. I'm still in the process of evaluating the record album these two fantastic artists put together.

The second song isn't by Bonobo, but by Radio Citizen. I thought I'd thrown it in as well so that you have an idea of just how soulful/jazzy Bajka's voice can get. It was brought to my attention awhile back by this awesome long-boarding video.

French Horn Rebellion

French Horn Rebellion is composed of two brothers born and raised in Milwaukee, who now live in the music hub of the East Coast, Brooklyn. If only Brooklyn wasn't such a long commute from my place, I'd be in that neighborhood all the time! Anyway, so one plays the french horn, and the older one is a producer. This hot track really starts the year right. It's a Hey Champ Remix, so you know you can expect nothing but top-notch remixes. Check out the second track as well. Chromeo kind of beats. Synth Pop at its finest. Simply synth-sational.

Yawn

According to their MySpace, their genres are Neo-Soul/Gospel/Crunk. I think some musicians use these choices quite loosely. They sound nothing like what is stated. They do sound way better than those mentioned though. You can download their EP for FREE, here.

They sound a lot like Animal Collective. Very experimental sounds that you're ear will click with right away. It just fits.

Mayer Hawthorne

Okay, so this guy is a 2009 artist. I never blogged about him but I just can't get over the fact that he can bring the same quality of Mo-town music back. This guy has just got everything right from voice all the way to composition.

Classixx

I've posted this before, but as usual, Treasure Fingers will deliver and I just got to hand this over to you guys. Pretty good subtle remix from the original one.

Too much electro posts in one go? I promise the next ones have more variation.

Example

Elliot John Gleave goes by the moniker Example. He's a British rapper from Fulham, West London. I first heard this song mid last year. A friend of mine posted the music video on Facebook. I don't really like the orignial per se, mainly because the rap is just a bit off for me. This remix is pretty good. A bit on the techno side, but the DJ still kept the piano beats that get you hooked on the song. The melody is perfect for an anthem of the night.

Terry Poison

Electrolash straight out of the beta+ world city, Tel Aviv, Israel. If you didn't know, prominent NY journalist David Kaufman coined Tel Aviv "Mediterranean's New Capital of Cool." I guess this group right here is evidence of that. The Twelves did an excellent job on this remix. Luv et.

Honeythieves

Three artists thousands of miles away from each other. Two producers and a singer/songwriter. Liset Alea is a Havana-born, jazz trained singer, songwriter and guitarist. She is joined by renowned French composer and producer DJ Alexkid and Brussels-based Oliver Mateu.

I originally heard a remix of this song. It caught my attention so I thought I'd do some recon and eventually stumbled upon the music video on YouTube.

Her voice is sultry and raspy at the same time. Who would have ever thought that could even be a possible combo. Her two sidekicks also managed to add some pretty strong melodies to the track to give it that extra umph! There is something about the beat that reminds of Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams. Bottom line is, it's a good fusion of electro pop paired with a jazzy toned voiced. Still can't put figure out who she sounds like. It's on the tip of my tongue. I'll get back to you guys on that.

Notorious B.I.G / Biggie Smalls

Yes, you read the title right. It's a Hip Hop post. Versatility is the key to success.

I had recently watched Notorious on HBO. When I saw the trailer and posters when I was back in Manila over the summer, I didn't think anything of it. It didn't come across as something I'd find interesting. Plus, Mo Money Mo Problems and Big Poppa were the only things I thought were important to know about this iconic rapper from Bad Boy Records.

The movie in my opinion was good. Very insightful into Biggie Smalls' career and life. Just think: MTV's From G's to Gents. "What don't break a n**ga, make a n**ga"

This song reminds us all of a better time. When Hip Hop wasn't all about getting wasted at parties and straight up grinding with your 'boo'.

This isn't the original version but a pretty mellow remix of it.

Duck Sauce

March has finally arrived! 20 more days until it's officially Spring. I've waited too long for this cold weather to die down. Anyway, I came across this video late last year. Never really paid that much attention to the song. It was only until the other day when I started fiddling around with some mixing software that I came across it on my iTunes again. This could just be the rebirth of disco house. Teaming up as Duck Sauce is A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, two DJs whom have gained respect worldwide. This collaboration is signed under Fools Gold Records. The featured track here is "I Can Do It" by Final Edition. Very disco, very fun. Even the music video has got the trappings of the 70s era. Thinking of getting some people to get into this get up for Halloween. Maybe even learn the dance moves?
